September 12, 2014

DAYTON OH- On October 3, 2014, Dayton Progress ("Dayton"), a MISUMI Group Company, will welcome area students to an open house as part of National Manufacturing Day (www.mfgday.com).  Manufacturing Day is an educational event during which U.S. manufacturers open their doors to demonstrate the potential of modern manufacturing and to foster interest in manufacturing careers.

  • Excellent Income.  The annual average income of manufacturing workers is more than $77,000.
  • Job Security & Satisfaction.  Manufacturing employees have the highest job tenure in the private sector.
  • Superior Benefits.  90% of manufacturing workers have medical benefits.

Primarily intended for students, the event is also open to parents, educators, community leaders, and business people. School administrators are encouraged to contact Dayton Progress to arrange for student tours.

Announcing the Merger of Dayton Progress Corporation and Anchor Lamina America

Stay up-to-date

New information about the merger is available at daytonlamina.com/merger.

February 14, 2014

Dayton Progress (“Dayton”) and Anchor Lamina (“Lamina”) have announced their merger effective February 9, 2014.  The new combined company is called DAYTON Lamina Corporation™.   The two die component makers were acquired November 6, 2012 from Connell Limited Partnership by MISUMI Group, Inc.  The president of the new company is Alan Shaffer, who is also president of Dayton.

  1. The objectives of the merger
    1. Leverage the combined sales channels and have all products represented by the Dayton Regional Sales Managers in North America and Europe, with the distributors of both companies being retained,
    2. Offer convenient quotations to die builders for their entire Bill of Material of die components,
    3. Greatly improve the end-user customer and distributor buying experience by having one field representative, a single phone number, one customer service department, one point of quoting, ordering, invoicing and accounts receivable administration.

  2. Timing

Immediately all products of DAYTON Lamina™ will be represented by the Dayton Regional Sales Managers.  A new website has been launched as www.DAYTONLamina.com featuring a distributor locator, product and technical information as well as other functions.  A new company-wide phone system will be installed and the Anchor Lamina enterprise system converted to that of Dayton.  This will enable a single customer service department, single point of quoting and the other benefits.  All merger activities are planned to be completed by October 1, 2014.

  3. Other synergies

Other synergies include consolidation of administrative functions and leveraging the combined employment for lower benefit costs.  These Front End benefits will complement the Back End benefits being achieved through the adoption of the MISUMI Production System by DAYTON Lamina™, accessing the MISUMI supply chain and product cross-selling projects between DAYTON Lamina™ and MISUMI.

DAYTON Lamina™ has approximately 1,500 employees and $200 million sales, with factories in the U.S. (OH, IN, MI, WI), Canada, Mexico, Portugal, Czech Republic, Japan and China (majority-owned Joint Ventures).  The company is the leading Western market supplier of die and mold components.

MISUMI Group Inc. is listed on the Tokyo first stock exchange (Ticker Code 9962).  MISUMI had FY 2013 sales of approximately $1.4 billion and more than 7,200 employees.  MISUMI is a leader in Factory Automation products, Die and Mold Tools and Industrial Electronic Products
