Materials Manager (Production and Inventory Control)

Reports to: Vice President of North America Manufacturing
Based at: Dayton, OH facility

Job purpose

Provide overall state-of-the-art managerial leadership and direction to the production and inventory control departments and job functions, in accordance with the agreed business plan.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  1. Must demonstrate an enthusiastic, hands-on approach to improvement in Dayton with a sense of urgency. This includes developing relationships necessary to achieve effective, lasting results. Also includes the ability to be a change agent, appropriately confronting challenges and problems and overcoming/resolving them.
  2. Demonstrate strong analytical skills and abilities and the ability to use data as the basis for proposals, decisions, etc.
  3. Provide expert technical production and inventory control direction for the organization.
  4. Develop, implement and maintain production and inventory control systems, methods and processes that ensure the optimum combination of inventory, on-time delivery and lead-time are realized.
  5. Plan for future requirements based on orders, production schedules and forecasts.
  6. Perform activities to monitor and maintain inventory control of raw materials, WIP and stock.
  7. Evaluate inventory levels and issue production orders or notifies purchasing as required.
  8. Ensure processes and procedures are in place to maintain optimum inventory accuracy.
  9. Manage production schedules to fulfill current or forecasted orders for manufactured parts or products.
  10. Plan and schedule production work.
  11. Lead manufacturing efforts in maximizing inventory turns that support the business strategy.
  12. Manage the obsolete inventory process to minimize the current and future financial impact caused by fluctuations and shifts in demand.
  13. Support the start-up process of new products through timely planning of materials and components.
  14. Maintain and develop a systematic process of managing and controlling departmental projects.
  15. Develop and execute annual budget as it relates to business and departmental goals.
  16. Lead and support manufacturing in cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives as it relates to Production and Inventory Control.
  17. Direct, advise and monitor subsidiary inventory and manufacturing KPI’s to ensure company is efficiently utilizing inventories and manufacturing resources to support overall customer demand.
  18. The ERP systems and process expert as it relates to the management methods, reports and activities required of the Production and Inventory Control department.
  19. Develops employees and systems to be self-sustaining and continually improving (Kaizen).


Must have a minimum of 3-5 five years of strong, proven managerial experience in materials management, (production and inventory control) and a BS or BA in a related field. Strong verbal communication and computer skills required. Experienced with APICS (certification is a plus), Lean, 6-Sigma and other Continuous Improvement techniques. Also, must be highly ERP-literate; experience with JD Edwards is a plus.

Other job responsibilities will be assigned by management as required and as appropriate to the position. Note: At times, weekend work may be required to accomplish all tasks on-time and/or to complete work related to competing priorities.

Sales Manager

Reports to Director of Sales

Location: Dayton, Ohio

Travel: 70-80% within in region

Region: Mid-west primarily. Will manage 6-8 Territory Sales Representatives.

Position Summary

  • Lead the sales and marketing functions in meeting our growth and profitability goals.
  • Responsible for planning and managing all sales activities within a defined region.
  • Defines the sales plan and customer and commercial strategy.
  • Responsible for achievement of both quantitative and qualitative sales objectives.
  • Support and assist with the support of corporate agreements
  • Responsible for developing staff/key managers to increase the talent level for the company.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develops (with input from cross-functional teams) and deploys comprehensive customer strategies that improve the growth and profitability.
  • Articulates a clear understanding of our market share, competitive position, and profitability at each assigned account .
  • Deploys comprehensive pricing strategies which are market driven, based on value provided to the customer and competitive alternatives.
  • Develops and deploys the customer interface strategy (points of contact, frequency) and builds strong rapport with key decision makers, developing sponsors at our key accounts.
  • Develops proactive Target Account plans, tracking and recording progress toward sales objectives.
  • Takes ownership of total customer satisfaction, monitoring our performance on key supplier metrics and pursuing corrective action plans as appropriate.
  • Develops sales forecasts for use in annual planning and monitors market trends throughout the year for use in monthly forecast adjustments.
  • Decides best method to go to market to best serve customer's needs and meet company objectives.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing
  • Master's degree helpful but not required
  • 4 years minimum sales management experience
  • Experience managing distribution
  • Metal Stamping/Pierce tooling experience highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to use excel and power point
  • Ability to formulate strategic plans

High Speed Precision Machinist

We are seeking an experienced precision high speed surface grinder machinist. The successful candidate must possess the following qualities: Perform set-up and operation of all grinding capabilities to various tool steels, including but not limited to: flat grinding, complex intricate shape grinding, and low speed and high speed in a production environment; Must be able to work to close tolerances in the range of .0001" - .0002"; Ability to achieve fine finishes is a plus; Mechanically inclined and have experience reading blueprints along with moderate math (Geometry) skills; and be available to work 2nd shift (3:30pm - 12:00am).
