DAYTools Support

This list of common support topics is designed to provide you with the knowledge and resources you need to make the most of our DAYTools software.

Creating Multi-Position and Multi-Location Retainers with DAYTools

DAYTools software includes a robust retainer design tool located in the lower right corner of the main screen.

Steps to access multi-position retainer function

The Multi-Position / Multi-Location retainer designer offers a few different ways to save your creation. Only the 3rd option allows you to re-load and continue to modify your creation.

Steps to save multi-position retainer data

  1. Exporting to CSV will create a comma-delimited text file of the features and dimensions used in your creation. Very few users can benefit from this format so Dayton discourages you from using this option.
  2. Export to CAD DATA offers several formats (DWG, STEP, IGES, DXF, etc). These files can be loaded into your design application.
  3. The most versatile Load and Save option handles "DAT" files. Dayton recommends that you always save your creation in the DAT format. You can export to CAD after you save an editable DAT file.

The DAT format is what you supply to your Dayton Distributor for pricing.

Issue Getting Past License Screen

At the first run of the program, users may encounter a disabled "agree" button at the bottom of the End User License Agreement (EULA). The button becomes enabled when the document is scrolled to the bottom with the scroll bar. Scrolling with a mouse wheel, keyboard, or touch device will not be recognized. Please use the scroll bar to reach the bottom of the document and to enable the agreement button.

Registering psolcomproxy.dll

When previewing or generating a CAD model for the first time, you may be asked to register a DLL (dynamic link library). The DLL is a system file that enables function of the DAYTools program.

Register psolcomproxy.dll

If this prompt fails to function, you will need to close and restart DAYTools in "Administrative mode".

To start DAYTools in "Administrative mode", right-click on the DAYTools icon (either on desktop or in the Start menu) and choose "Run as administrator" from the pop-up menu. Then proceed to where you have encountered the "Register DLL" prompt.

You only need to run DAYTools in administrative mode once. You can run DAYTools normally in all future sessions.

Screen display issues

Systems with altered display settings may present errors in DAYTools. Form elements and buttons may not be correctly positioned or may not appear at all. The following may help to resolve display problems.

On the main screen for DAYTools, click on the Swiss Army knife icon in the lower right. Make sure that the box for "Enable Form Resize" is checked.
